Day Thirty is Finally Here!!! :D

Hey guys! Well this is it! Today is day thirty for our immersion project!

Well I hate to say, but I did not form a habit of running. It just didn't happen for me. Running and me could not form a relationship with each other for whatever reason.

Did you guys struggle with your projects??

Little Run for Thought

Today has just been one of those days where everything seems stressful and there is no motivation to do homework so I went for a little jog around my building to clear my head of stress. It was nice and quite.

Do you guys ever have a day where you need something to help you clear your head??

Forrest Gump for anyone??

Hey guys just thought since my blog was about running that I would share a little Forrest Gump with you. When I ran track in middle school I never failed to hear my dad yell "Run Forrest, Run!" as I sprinted the final 100 yd stretch. Hope you enjoy

To My Classmates

For those of you who are in English 104 with Kat Greene, what are some things you found out about yourself or discovered throughout your thirty-day study?? Let me know! I'm curious to see what you all have come up with!

Habits?

So as my thirty days are coming to an end I realize that I have failed to develop a habit of running like I had hoped I would. It didn't help that spring break hit in the middle of my thirty day studied but I've also realized that I don't like running which could have been a factor in hindering my ability to form a running habit.

Have you developed or kicked any habits recently??

Running Around a Ring: Dog Shows & Running

Hey guys its been awhile since I've posted, that's my bad! But I have something really interesting I wanted to share with you all!

This past weekend I was in Louisville, KY participating in an American Kennel Club (AKC) dog show! I might add that it was a fantastic weekend for me!!! But I wanted to let you guys know that I got two days worth of running in by participating in this dog show!

You might be wondering what the heck I am talking about!? Well I show Dalmatians. And Dalmatians move fairly fast, especially mine. So when I'm showing I have to run/jog around the ring to showcase their movement.

At the end of the day this ends up being a great little workout for me! I'm almost always sweating and I usually feel it in my legs, especially by the end of the weekend.

Now its your turn!!
What kind of hobbies or activities do you do where you are able to get in a little run/workout?

Here's some pictures of me showing this past weekend and a couple of the times when I had to run/jog around the ring.

Great Day for a Run Don't You Think!?

Hope you all are enjoying the weather today!

It was such a beautiful day outside that I decided to take a little jog out in this glorious sunshine! Nothing too strenuous just took it all in stride. It felt great!

It's days like these when I would think runners are happiest :)

What's been your best run??

Like the Idea, Hate the Verb: Do You?

Back from spring break in Florida! I miss it already! But it's back to reality for me!

So I've come to realize after about 3 days of running, that I really don't like running at all. I think I like the idea of running more than I like the actual action of running. It's proving to take more effort and a more disciplined mindset to form a running habit.

I can easily see that my hinders or road blocks are the fact that my mind is not disciplined enough to be motivated to form a running habit as well as the fact that I HATE running! As I have grown up it is hard to remember how I really felt about running when I was a kid, but I'm starting to remember they I really never liked running but I did however like the idea of being a runner.

So why do I hate running? I'm not completely sure to be quite honest. Running is a great way to work your entire body in order to be healthier in general. I still can't bring myself to like running. Does anyone else out there hate running too, but likes the idea of running or wishes they could be a runner?

"Run Away From it All. Run Right"

I found this picture on pinterest and thought it was very interesting. I believe it is an advertisement for Nike. But I like how it appeals to one of the main reasons why people run everyday; a stress reliever. A way to rid your mind of the worries and cares of the world.

What do you think about this picture?

Spring Break

Hey guys! Spring break starts for me this week so I will not be posting anything regular this coming week. But I would still love to hear about your running experiences!!

What's Your Jam?

This morning I am definitely tired after my little run. My body isn't hurting, but I can tell that my body was worked. It's a great feeling isn't? To know that your effort towards running is affecting your body. Even though I am slightly tired I feel ready to take on another run today!

I think I will try the treadmill again today because I have a busy schedule on MWF and it just seems more convenient for my schedule today. Does anyone else feel this way sometimes? That they run on a treadmill instead of outside or on a track because of the convenience of it at the time?

Today I want to add a little beat to my step so....what are your favorite songs to run to? Send me a list I would love to hear what you guys listen to!!

Day 2: First Step

I ran for the first time today for 10 minutes which was approximately 1 mile on the treadmill. I don't think I did too shabby if I do say so myself. I don't know if I particularly like the treadmill though. I didn't run with music instead I ran with thoughts. I noticed I zoned out a bit every once in a while because I can't recall anything I was thinking about in particular. I do know that in the last few minutes I started counted my steps as if I had OCD. I also tried focusing on a fixed point as well for a period of time that seemed to help for a bit. It allowed me to get into a steady pace and rhythm. An hour or so after running I felt better. My body in general feels better and I feel like I accomplished something today. Let's hope this feeling continues! But for now lets see what tomorrow brings. It's suppose to rain so i wonder if this will affect my attitude/mood and/or self-discipline toward running tomorrow? I don't we'll have to wait and see....

What are your thoughts on treadmills vs a track or the outdoors?

Running Here I Come!

Today is the day that I will start becoming a runner! For my thirty day immersion study I will be working to build a habit of running so that I may use running as a coping strategy for stress and other factors. I've always admired habitual runners so I decided I to become one! During this thirty day process I want to better understand what goes on in the mind of a runner and how self-discipline plays a role in creating a habitual runner. At the end of this thirty day immersion study I hope to have establish a running habit of my own to not only better my mind, but to better my health as well. I will be posting my progress throughout my journey, what I feel, what I think, and if/how running is affecting me. I would love for you to follow in my progress and experience my journey with me. Let me know what you think, if you have questions, or if you want to add some thoughts to my study. Now lets go out and run!!
